Open Enrollment Guide and Information Revision dated 2/1/23
Open enrollment applications must be completed online and are filled on a first-come, first serve basis, according to space. Open enrollment of students will be limited with respect to grade level capacities, building capacities, and program capacities which are established by the East Knox Local School District (EKLSD). If capacities have not been exceeded, enrollment privileges may be extended until capacities have been met. New students having siblings already in the (EKLSD) will have preference over other new students, but will have applications approved in the same manner as other students. Students who are enrolled in the District on the final day of the previous school year will receive enrollment preferences over the first-time student applicants. In addition, children of East Knox employees will receive enrollment consideration preferences over first-time applicants.
Enrollment will be denied to students who are residents of school districts in the State of Ohio and who have been suspended or expelled by the student's district for ten consecutive days or more in the term for which admission is sought or in the term immediately preceding the term for which admission is sought, the procedures may include a provision denying admission of such applicant. The student and parent(s)/guardian(s) may have an opportunity for a hearing before the Superintendent/designee to determine the admittance or non-admittance of the student.

High school students who transfer school districts through open enrollment must follow Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) rules for participating on athletic teams. Typically, athletic eligibility is determined by the school in which the student is attending beginning their 9th grade year through 12th grade. OHSAA rules for transfer and athletic eligibility are very specific and must be followed by law.
